Knights of Columbus – Santa Lucia Council # 3648
We are here to serve our extended family, our church, our community and our Country. We are Catholic Gentlemen, we are known as “The Knights.” Serving St. William’s and Santa Margarita Parishes.
WHY MEMBERSHIP IN THE KNIGHTS?
You will do so much good for so many in need…and it takes such little time. You choose what you want to participate in and how much time you give.
Enjoy new friendships with Catholic men joined in a common cause to serve our priests, our parishes, our families, our communities of Atascadero and Santa Margarita, and our nation.
Bring new joy and fun to your wife and children as they join the Knights and our families in our yearly socials, which include a summer pool BBQ and the Christmas Dinner party.
WHAT DO THE KNIGHTS DO?
We raise money and use it, with our skills and our time, to support good causes: our Priests, Parish Youth Groups and CCD programs, sponsor Scout Troup 51, Eagle Scout projects, Atascadero High World Champion Robotics Club, Youth sports, ECHO, Escuela Del Rio, Rise, as well as services and support for children, parents and seniors in need. We also serve as Eucharistic Ministers, ushers and lectors at Mass.
Fundraisers: Patriotic BBQ and Auction, Colony Days Tri-tip Booth, Orange Sales, Bocce Tournament, Cornhole Tournament, and the American Wheelchair Drive.
OUR HISTORY
The Knights of Columbus (www.kofc.org) was founded by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, a 29 year old curate of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, to care for the many orphans and widows resulting from deaths in the new industrial revolution. Since that day in 1882, the Knights of Columbus has grown to be the largest body of Catholic laymen in the world with a membership nearing 2 million.
WHO CAN BECOME A KNIGHT? Membership is open to all Catholic men 18 years of age or older. The only requirement is that a man be a Practical Catholic.
WHAT DOES IT COST? A one-time administrative fee of $20.00 and Annual Dues of $40.00.
MEETINGS: Regular business meetings and men’s social are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the St. William’s Parish Hall at 6:30pm (currently held via Zoom).
NEWSLETTER: Monthly newsletter covers past and future activities, sent via email or US mail.
